FAQs
What’s the difference between film photography and digital photography?
The difference between film and digital photography is how the image is captured and processed.
Film photography uses physical rolls of light-sensitive film to capture an image. When you take a photo, light hits the film, creating an exposure that must be developed using a lab. The result is a physical negative strip that can be scanned or printed.
Digital photography captures images using an electronic sensor instead of film. The camera instantly saves the image as a digital file that can be viewed, edited, and shared immediately.
While both can produce high-quality images, film photography often has a distinct look—richer tones, natural grain, and a timeless aesthetic—because of the way light interacts with film. Digital photography, on the other hand, offers convenience, instant results, and endless editing possibilities.
Think of it like listening to music:
Film is like vinyl records
Digital is like streaming music
Do you send RAW/Unedited Files?
No. My editing style is what makes my pictures their own, which means any image that circulates the internet with my work must reflect my work. I spend time editing images from each session to ensure that you will love the end result!
Can I request a specific aesthetic?
Absolutely! If you have a specific aesthetic in mind, feel free to send me a vision board, mood board, or inspiration photos—this helps us align on the look and feel you’re going for.
While I make creative choices based on lighting, location, and film stock, I’ll always consider your preferences and find ways to make the session uniquely yours.
What type of film do you use? Can I choose the film stock?
I shoot exclusively on Kodak UltraMax 400 or Kodak Portra 400, two versatile and high-quality film stocks known for their beautiful colors and classic film look. You won’t need to worry about choosing—I’ll select the best one based on the lighting, location, and the overall aesthetic that fits your session. This keeps things simple while ensuring you get the best possible results!
Do you require a deposit? Is it refundable?
Yes, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your session. This deposit goes toward your total session cost and ensures your spot on my calendar.
If you need to reschedule, I’m happy to accommodate as long as you provide at least 48 hour notice. Your deposit will be applied to the new session date. However, if you cancel without rescheduling or don’t show up for your session, the deposit will be forfeited.
What should I wear for my session? Can I bring props or multiple outfits?
Wear whatever makes you feel confident and comfortable!
I don’t provide props, but you’re welcome to bring your own! Small personal touches—like flowers or anything meaningful to you—can add personality to your session. If you’d like to change outfits, let’s plan ahead to make the most of our time.
What locations do you shoot at?
I can shoot anywhere within 20 miles of LAX, including beaches, parks, cityscapes, and more—whatever fits what you’re going for! If you have a specific location in mind, let me know, and we can plan around it.
